I think I speak for all of us when I say that I have never been happier to welcome a new year. Saying the words, “Goodbye 2020” never felt so good. As with each passing year, I can’t help but reflect on what last year taught me. Though it brought changes none of us could ever have fathomed, 2020 taught me to slow down and focus on what is truly important. It taught me not to look to the future for happiness, but to enjoy the present. From taking daily walks in nature to hosting a virtual happy hour with friends to treasuring the time spent with my husband and son day in and day out, 2020 taught me not to take anyone or anything for granted.
Happiness changes as we age (page 36). It evolves as we do. The search for happiness throughout one’s life can be both elusive and palpable. As I get older, I find that I am no longer searching for it; instead, I try and take stock of it in its purest forms. For me, that means enjoying the simple things in life: making my husband laugh, feeling the warm sunshine on my face, getting a hug from my son, taking a walk with our dog Lola in this beautiful area we live, enjoying a glass of wine and good food with friends.
It brings me great pleasure to introduce our Winter 2021 issue. I wish all of you a year filled with happiness & promise …we all deserve it!
