Don’t let the name of this drink fool you. This winter is the perfect time to warm up with a Bourbon Smash. No occasion is needed to saddle up to a warm fire on a cold & snowy northeast winter day (or night) and enjoy the tantalizing flavors of this classic cocktail.

The beauty of making it at home is that you get to be the bartender. That means you can experiment with your favorite fruits for the ‘smash’ to personalize this popular cocktail. Raspberry. Cherry. Peach. It’s your choice.  Any of those, when combined with the lime juice and dash of orange bitters, will provide the perfect balance to this delicious cocktail.

Ingredients:

    • 2 oz Private Select Makers Mark Bourbon Blend
      (or higher proof bourbon (45%+)
    • 1 1/2 oz fruit puree (raspberry, cherry, peach for example)
    • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
    • 2 dashes orange bitters
    • Orange ribbon oil or rind

Directions:

Fill a double old-fashioned glass with ice. Shake all ingredients with ice and double strain over fresh ice. Spritz orange ribbon oils over the glass or simply rub an orange rind over the rim of the glass and drop it on top of the cocktail.
